St Andrew’s Starbeck

The foundation stone for our present building was laid in 1909, and the building was completed in 1910. Today, in 2014 we celebrate having completed our building project and having opened the new Welcome centre in September 2013.

St Andrew’s church has a vision to be a resource centre for the community of Starbeck through welcoming people with open arms leading them towards a Christian faith, while at the same time resourcing stronger Christians and affirming their faith. Visit our activities page to see some images from the many events that take place in St Andrews and of the people involved.

In 2006 the leadership of St Andrew’s began looking at ways the building could be improved for the benefit of both the regular worshipping community and the wider community in Starbeck. A major consideration was for the building to be easily accessible to all people regardless of any disability, to provide for the comfort and needs of all visitors, to create a warm, hospitable and welcoming meeting space, including a large and flexible worship area.

Timescale & cost

A project of this nature is always a long process. The information on this page tells the story so far from 2006 to 2013. The Buildings Working Group meets each month to review the plans, the finance and the time scale.

You can see the current project timescale by using this link to the project timeline

Funding is an on-going process and there has been significant giving from within the church; we are also seeking external funding. The building fund summary sheet shows the status of the building fund. This summary is regularly updated.
